Amanda Pilnick - my story

You might wonder how all this came about!

Well, I was running The Cycle Centre Ltd, which in itself is a story considering my previous work back ground of banking and trust!

I attended a Mixed Media class and sat by a lady who was working with pastels and she offered to let me try. I was “hooked”. After spending years using watercolours and acrylics, which didn’t suit me, this discovery and the fact that I could actually do some half decent paintings, was a total revelation to me, my friends and family.

Whilst I continued running The Cycle Centre, in my spare time I did as much painting as I could and in the process discovered oils too.

In 2017, my share in The Cycle Centre was sold and I rejoined Standard Chartered Bank after a 16 year absence and worked in their Credit department with a fantastic team. I was made redundant at the end of 2020 and during my time off, I spent time enjoying using pastels again.

In March 2021, I joined the lovely census team and helped input the thousands of forms during a 6 month contract with the States of Jersey.

Sadly, my Mum’s health had deteriorated and after falling and breaking her wrist, I decided to care for her full time. Recently her health has declined further and she now has a “live in” carer.

So it was time to dream no more and move things forward with “Uniquely Amanda”!

Where it will take me….who knows…….but I certainly enjoy creating as often as I can. I hope you like the items I have made, quite a variety! Who knows what I’ll be up to next…………………

These are some of my earlier creations - we all have to start somewhere but slowly they get better!
