Upcycling a chest of drawers

A very special piece of furniture since it was my grandpa’s…….and my new project……I have some very exciting ideas for this. From what’s in my head this will look very different……watch this space………..

After a few hours of sanding………!

Then a few coats of gold metallic finish furniture paint….

Then the fun begins with stencilling………

Le Chat Noir is a poster I have always loved and according to “wiki” was a 19th century entertainment establishment in the bohemian Montmartre (always loved this part of Paris) district of Paris. It was opened on 18 November 1881 at 84 Boulevard de Rochechouart by impresario Rodolphe Salis, and closed in 1897 not long after Salis' death.

I decided to make this the front piece for the drawers and fitted new knobs too. The white Paris knobs seemed apt…….I hope you like the finished piece…..
